Leon County Community Coalition

Lord’s Pantry of Leon County recognized the increased risk related to underage drinking in September 2001 Leon County Community Coalition (LCCC)  was started under the umbrella of Lords Pantry and organized as a faith-based effort. LCCC received its first funding as an organization from DFC Coalition in 2002.

The founders were dedicated to bringing together a diverse group of community stakeholders to work toward improving the future for Leon County Youth.  The clear focus of the coalition is and always has been to prevent underage drinking and reduce the number of alcohol related fatalities in Leon County.

LCCC became a 501 (c)(3) non-profit organization in August, 2005 and began the transition to become its own fiscal agent for all funding sources.  Since then the agency has continued to flourish in its unique role in a county of 17,665 people by implementing both individual and environmental strategies, focusing on the five communities having school districts – Oakwood, Leon, Normangee, Buffalo and Centerville.  The coalition utilizes individual strategies to reach every 3rd, 4th and 5th grade and some 6th grade students in the county.  The individual efforts are combined with environmental strategies of the coalition to produce the highest likelihood for success in preventing underage drinking, substance abuse and other related problems.
